Acarajé da Dinha, da Cira e da Regina

Acarajé is an iconic dish of Salvador, and the Baianas who prepare it are recognized as part of Brazil’s Intangible Cultural Heritage. To experience an authentic acarajé, opt for one freshly fried by a Baiana, rather than the frozen versions sometimes served in restaurants.

To reach the island, you can rent a speedboat or take the Catamarã Ilha dos Frades, which operates five days a week (Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday). Departing from Centro Náutico (behind Mercado Modelo) at 9:00 AM, it returns at 3:30 PM. The ride takes about 1 hour and 20 minutes each way. You can enjoy the beach until around 1:00 PM before heading to Preta for lunch.
Important: Do not book the combined Ilha dos Frades & Itaparica tour. These tours spend very little time on Ilha dos Frades, leaving no time for lunch at Preta.
